First Tee Project
at Wildcreek

Wildcreek Golf Course, now proudly owned by First Tee Northern Nevada, continues with their project to reimagine this much needed historic golf course. First Tee broke ground in January of 2025 with the renovation of the existing par-3 nine-hole course and the construction of a newly designed championship nine-hole course. Future phases will include a new short game area, a multilevel driving range and golf shop, and the renovation of the existing clubhouse into a new restaurant and First Tee learning center and offices.

Meet Course Architect
Brian Curley

Brian Curley is a renowned golf course architect with a career spanning over three decades.  Raised in Pebble Beach, California, Brian played, caddied, and worked at area courses developing an appreciation of the game and its architecture.  Upon graduating in 1982 from the Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo School of Architecture, he began his career with Landmark Golf Company as a Land Planner and eventually focused entirely on golf course design and construction, working on many projects with the legendary Pete Dye.  In 1997 Schmidt-Curley Design was formed with Lee Schmidt.  In addition to numerous courses in the California Desert,  they created a focus on the Asian market and a strong emphasis on China, quickly becoming leaders of the China golf course development movement.  Brian is a long time member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects, and his design credits include all 12 courses at China’s Mission Hills Shenzhen and the 10 courses at Mission Hills Haikou, the “World’s Largest Golf Club”.  In recent years he has expanded work in countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand, and Burma.  Most recently he has focused on Saudi Arabia with three prominent courses on the Red Sea as well as a renewed domestic workload including the  remodel of the iconic Pelican Hill Golf Club in Newport Beach, CA.

His work has been recognized with awards such as “Architect of the Year” by GOLF Magazine,  “Best Golf Course Architect – Asia Pacific” by Asian Golf Monthly  for seven straight years, as well as  being named one of Golf Inc.’s “Most Influential Architects”.  Curley’s philosophy emphasizes site-adaptive courses that balance classic golf architecture with contemporary technology.  GOLF Magazine appointed Brian as a member on its “Top 100 Courses in the World” Panel.
